Life Changing Benefits
Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (sometimes called jiu jitsu, bjj, or Gracie Jiu Jitsu) program for teens is designed for all skill and fitness levels and ages 13-17 (18+ can attend our adult classes).
It is the most complete ground fighting system on the planet, and it proves the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and technique rather than strength and athleticism.
But it’s much more than a self-defense system. It’s a means to empower yourself physically and mentally. Most teens are in the midst of discovering who they are, what’s important to them, and what they are capable of. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu provides an opportunity for them to challenge themselves in an environment that is free of peer pressure, cattiness, & drama. And they will learn much about themselves — about their capabilities, limits, and ability to overcome. They will learn lessons on the mats that transcend to every part of their life and will help them discover their inner champion.
- Learn the most practical form of self defense
- Dramatically improve fitness and mobility for any sport
- Improve mental health & overall happiness
- Build confidence for every aspect of life
- Make friends with other positive & motivated teens
- Have lots of fun!
While BJJ is incredibly useful for self defense and overall fitness, and general wellbeing, it’s also a sport with competitions and an opportunity to build a state/national/world ranking. Check out the video below of the highlights of the 2018 Pan Kids Championships. It includes kids age 5-16.
Some kids start typical school sports too late to be competitive or feel like they can contribute and flurish. Or they just don’t like the vibe of dealing with team sports.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu opens up new opportunities for those who want to pursue it as a competitive sport. And the relative newness of the sport means that one can excel even if you start it late in life. One of the most decorated athletes in the history of our sport, Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles, didn’t even start until he was 21 years old.
So whether you are just looking for a positive and engaging way to get fit and build confidence or would like to test your skills at a tournament one day, our highly experienced coaches and team have the knowledge and resources to help you reach those goals. You will be surrounded by a community of supporters and friends who help each other through this journey. Come experience it for yourself!
